James Ronald "Ronnie" Mellon

Mr. James Ronald "Ronnie" Mellon, 57, of 102 Elgin Drive, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at his home.

A native of Cleveland County and born Dec. 24, 1948, he was a professional painter for more than 30 years for Ned T. Lyerly Paint Contractor of Charlotte and a member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Herman Mellon; brother, Edward Lee; sister, Sharon Rangel; and grandparents, Frank and Macie Mellon.

He is survived by his former wife of 24 years and mother of three daughters, Dorothy Kaye Mellon Ramsey of Kings Mountain; his mother, Martha Costner Mellon of Shelby; three daughters, Rhonda Scott and husband, Doug, of Shelby, Kimberly Mellon and special friend, Sammy Sloan, of Shelby and Shilda Mellon and special friend, Randy Wilson, of Lawndale; three brothers, Donnie Mellon and wife, Judy, Ricky Mellon and wife, Patricia, and Kenneth Cody of Charlotte; four sisters, Jeanette Mellon, Janie Craig, Connie Hunt of Charlotte and Vickie Locklear of Pembroke; seven grandchildren, Doug Scott Jr. and girlfriend, Jamie Lowery, Steven Mellon, Kayla Scott, Jordan Mellon, Jada Mellon, Dakota Mellon and Isaiah Mellon; and special friend Gene Towery of Lawndale.

The funeral was Monday at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church, with the Revs. Wade Boone and Hugh Moore officiating, followed by burial in the church cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday evening at Stamey Funeral Home.
