from the Republican for July 23, 1908:.

Isaiah Archer, son of Alexander and Lucretia Archer, was born in North Carolina, Oct. 4, 1851, and died at his home in Pecksburg, Indiana, July 17th, 1908, aged 56 years, 9 months and 13 days. He came to Hendricks County with his parents when he was 2 years old, and has resided ever since within its boundaries. He was married to Mary Mason at Stilesville in 1876 and to them were born 9 children, 7 sons and 2 daughters, one son dying in infancy. The rest with their mother and 7 grand-children survive him. He also leaves an aged mother and three brothers. He professed religion in 1886 under the preaching of Rev. Wm. Trester and united with the Lutheran church and has continued his membership ever since. Although ailing for about 2 years, he was confined to his sick bed but one short week. He seemed to know at the beginning that his condition was serious, but spoke cheerfully and hopefully of his prospects for the Better World. He told his friends that he was ready to go, that nothing was in his way. "I am going to that beautiful city in Heaven, and I want you all to meet me there." were among his last words to his family. A kind husband and father has gone to his reward. A man leaving no enemy in the world has passed through death to Life Eternal. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John T. Hadley, of Plainfield, assisted by Rev. Dodd, of Coatesville, at 1:30 p.m., July 19. Burial at Amo.
