-His Honor next referred to the case of Amelia Camp, charged by the affidavit of her husband, Williams Camp, of the crime of murder, in killing her infant child. The accused was in custody, the evidence of the killing was undisputable, and the jury could not do otherwise than to find a bill of indictment against her, and then a traverse jury would try and determine the case, which a grand jury could not do.

Wednesday, 11th.
...The Grand Jury came into court and made
two presentments, one against Amelia Camp
for manslaughter, the other against Joseph
Holladay for manslaughter.
...Mr. Miner thereupon asked the Court to
admit Mr. Holladay to bail, which His Honor
assented to fixing the sum at $8,000 Messrs.
W. Jennings, J Townsend, J.C. Little, and
N. Groesbeck, became securities.
--------------Monday, 16th, 10 a.m.
....On indictment Amelia Camp was ar-
raigned for manslaughter. Aurellus Miner,
Esq., appeared for the prosecution, and James
Ferguson, Esq., was appointed by the Court
to defend the Prisoner, the Court at the same
time directing that $75 be levied off the goods
and chattels of the prisoner's husband, Wil-
liame Camp, for fee of counsel.
...The following jury were dully empanneled
to try the case:--J.W. Fuel, James Rawlins,
Milton d. Hammond, O.F. Atwood, Theodore
Curtis, Abram Rose, Peter Ranck, John Neff,
jr, Joseph Brown, Truman Leonard, Char-
les H. Basset and Ammi R. Jackman.
...Mrs. Mcghie, Mrs. Samuels, Mrs. Moser,
and Edwing D. Wooley were sworn, and tes-
tified on the part of the prosecution, and Dr.
Clinton on the part of the defense.
...During the examination of Dr. Clinton,
Judge Kinney received a telegraphic dispatch
announcing the sudden death of his son. As
soon as the Judge could recover himself from
the shock produced by the mournful news,
sufficiently to speak, he instructed the counsel
to suspend the examination of the witness,
and ordered the Marshal to adjourn Court
till Tuesday at 10 o'clock am.

....The case of the people of Utah vs. Amelia
Camp was continued. Dr. Clinton was fur-
ther examined for the defense.
...Mr. Miner addressed the jury for the pros-
ecution, and delivered very able speech. Mr.
Ferguson, counsel for the defense, then ad-
dressed the jury in quite a pathetic style His
cleer speech was evidently as effective as it
was eloquent.
...The jury was then charged by the court, in-
structed to the law, and their duties plainly
pointed out.
..... The jury retired.

lia Camp, returned into court and rendered a
verdict of "Not Guilty."
.....Mr. Miner asked that costs of suits be
assessed toor taxed to complaining witness;
the court thereupon ordered that the cost be
assessed against Mr. Camp, husband of the
defendant.
....Court adjourned till Thursday at 10 a.m.
