Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
Mr. Lowrie was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Chico, Texas, where he attended schools through the eighth grade.
He moved to the Imperial Valley at age 18. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in the 820th Engineer Battalion in the European campaign of World War II.
He was discharged on Oct. 12 1945, with the rank of technician 4.
Upon his return to the Imperial Valley, he began working in the farming industry. Shortly thereafter, he started his own business that he operated until his retirement in 1981.
His hobbies and interests were hunting, fishing and golfing, family said, adding that in later years he enjoyed barbecuing for the American Legion, Elks Lodge and Del Rio Country Club.
