SULLIVAN – Helen L. Crawford, nee Watt, 93, formerly of Sparta, Effingham and Tolono, died Thursday (Jan. 13, 2011) at Mason Point, Sullivan.

Helen was born on March 3, 1917, in Tolono, the daughter of Theodore and Mary Ethel Lloyd Watt.

She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sparta.

Helen was a retired beautician and was active at the Sparta Senior Center.

She married Clark M. Crawford on July 3, 1935, at Pesotum, and he preceded her in death in 1997 after 62 years of marriage.

Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Buck (Dixie) Petticrew of Wheeler, Mrs. Jeffrey (Barbara) Gillespie of Sparta and Mrs. Ross (Connie) Foley of Beardstown; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by infant daughter, Peggy Marlene.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Mason Point Chapel, Sullivan, with Chaplain Tim Haworth officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Memorial Cemetery, Tolono, in the spring.

Memorials may be made to Mason Point, formerly the Illinois Masonic Home.
