Article from the Chaska Weekly Valley Herald newspaper dated Thursday, October 3, 1946:

Miss LaVerne Pauly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pauly, and Pvt. John J. Wenzel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wenzel, both families of Chaska, were joined in wedlock at 4:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, September 24, 1946, in the rectory of Guardian Angels Catholic Church by the Reverend Father Justinian Kugler, O.F.M.

The bride wore a gown of satin bodice with sweetheart neckline and a full net skirt which went into a long train. She carried white roses and pom poms and wore a two-strand pearl necklace, a gift of the groom. The matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Daniel Howe, of Duluth, gowned in autumn rose crepe with shirred bodice and full skirt trimmed with lace. She carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations and wore pearl earrings, gift of the bride. Her other attendants were Phyllis Wenzel, sister of the groom, and Lorraine Ess, friend of the couple. They wore identical dresses of blue and old rose taffeta, shirred bodice and full skirt, and carried bouquets of yellow pom poms tied with blue and pink ribbon and wore pearl earrings, gift of the bride.

The groom wore his army uniform and was attended by Jim Lubansky and Richard Heinisch, of Chaska, and Daniel Howe, of Duluth. They wore dark suits with white carnation boutonnieres.

The bride's and groom's mothers wore dark dresses and had a corsage of red carnations and white pom poms.

Following the service, a reception was held at the Legion Hall where dinner was served to 150 guests. The hall was decorated with pink and white streamers and beautiful flowers in season. Following the reception the young couple left on a short wedding trip. The bride wore a brown suit with matching accessories.

Both young people are well and favorably known in Chaska, where they have many friends. The groom has been in the army for some months and has gone to Fort Lawton, Washington, where he will be assigned to overseas duty. His fair bride will remain here and reside with her parents. In extending congratulations, the Herald joins their many friends in expressing the hope that the future may bring them much happiness and success.
