CHESTER, John Allen Of Cambridge, peacefully at the K.W. Site of the Grand River Hospital, on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the age of 80. Loving and devoted husband of Beverly (nee Walford). Cherished father of Russell and his wife Lauren of Cambridge and Sherry Whiteside and her husband Robert of Barrie. Special grandfather of Jessica, Jacob, Michael and Timothy as well as great-grandfather of Asher and Callia. John will also be sadly missed by his sisters Anne Chester, Doreen Chester and Linda Hill (Barry), his sister-in-law Freida Gerrard, brother-in-law George Merson, his special niece Shelley as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Hannah Chester, his sister Marilyn, his brother Robert (Marion), and brother-in-law Jack Gerrard. John retired as an Inspector with the Waterloo Regional Police after 32 years of service and was a member of the Waterloo Regional Police Male Chorus for 25 years. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home , 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge where the family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. A private interment will take place at Mount View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of the 5th and 6th floors and the Renal Unit of the Grand River Hospital for their care.
