Bill S. Bailey, 74, of Grand Island died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at his daughter's home in Clovis, N.M., after a battle with cancer. Bill was born March 21, 1937, in Chase County at the home of Joseph Bailey and Zella Harris Bailey.
Bill was in the U. S. Army from Oct. 21, 1955 thru Oct. 15, 1958, and served in Europe, mainly Germany. He married his first wife, Alice A. Softley, May 26, 1959, in Elsie. He married Norma (Dadey) Perkins on Nov. 14, 1997, in Grand Island.
Bill retired from Grand Island Nebraska City Electric after 29 years. He was a member of the Grand Island Saddle Club, Liederkranz and The Platt-Duetsche. He enjoyed golfing. He moved to Clovis on Oct. 15, 2011, to be near immediate family.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph and Zella Bailey, and sister, Betty Joe Van Vleet.
Survivors are: wife, Norma (Dadey) Perkins Bailey of Grand Island; son and daughter-in-law, Bill R. and Rita Bailey of Engleside, Texas; daughter, Sarah R. Bailey of Clovis, N.M.; sisters and brother-in-law, Mona Miller and Audrey and John Howard, all of Grand Island, Celia and Harry North of Buffalo, Mo., and Jennie Syfrett of Georgia;Former spouse, Alice (Bailey) Elliott of Clovis; five grandchildren: Derek Glusick and Jade Bailey of Clovis, NM; Nathan Bailey of San Antonio, TX; Emma Flippo and her husband, Jason of Engleside, TX; and Ben Weston of Austin, TX; three great-grandchildren: Alexis Bailey and Zoe and Ty Flippo; one aunt, Amy Harris of Grants; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
