"Gene" Creel, Jr.

1917-2011

Leahman Eugene "Gene" Creel, Jr., 94, native of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011.

Mr. Creel served his country in the US Army during WWII in the finance department which also included foreign service in Iran. He was a graduate of the University of Florida. Gene was a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite and was also a 33 degree Mason. He was a member of several professional organizations including, AICPA and FICPA. Gene was a former senior partner of the accounting firm, Creel, Bryan & Gallagher. He was also a lifelong member of Gadsden Street United Methodist Church.

Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Doris Cushman Creel; daughter, Meredith Creel Taylor; grandson, Owen Brian Taylor; as well as 4 brothers.

He is survived by his three children, Leslie H. Luckie Barrineau, Virginia L. Nix Isler (Fred) and David Andrew Creel (Dee); 8 grandchildren, Angela Williams, Chris Luckie, Marilyn Huber, Abigail Rodriguez, Bradley Taylor, Robert Nix and David and Michael Creel; also 8 great-grandchildren, Kalyn, Kiana, Alek, Ethan, Luna, Emelia, Gavin and Brannon; and a brother, Clifton "Bud" Creel; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5-7pm Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00pm Friday, December 30, 2011 at Gadsden Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, 901E. Gadsden St., Pensacola, FL 32501.

The family would like to thank West Florida Hospital, Covenant Hospice and Azalea Trace for their excellent care and support.
