Jacob was born in Landiswil, Bern, Switz on 22 Jun 1829, although the headstone says the 15th of Jun. He was baptized 10 Jun 1829 in Biglen, Bern, Switz in the Church of Biglen (Lutheran). He was adopted in 1829 according to the laws of Switzerland at that time. In 1867 he immigrated to the USA with his wife Anna and their 3 children-John, Frederick & Eliza- and came straight to Wathena, Doniphan, KS to be near his friends who were here already. He was a farmer and a cheese maker.
