MEREDITH - Hermann Andrew Poh, 96, died Dec. 30, 2009, at Goldenview Health Care Center.
He was born in Queens, New York, Jan. 29, 1913, to Andrew and Matilda (Kramer) Poh. He had been a resident of Laconia since 1993. Prior he had lived in Midddletown, N.Y. for many years, and after his retirement he had lived in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
He was a lieutenant with the New York City Fire Department for 35 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the IAFF Local 854, and a member of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association. He held membership in the Lodge of Elks primarily in Florida.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Virginia C. (Gorodovich) Poh, Jan. 4, 2008.
IN HIS LIFE: Hermann is survived by two sons, Timothy Poh and his wife, Diane, of Meredith and Andrew Poh and his wife, Holly, of Woodstock, Conn.; a daughter, Andrea Poh of Phoenix; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Georgianna Poh of Connecticut, Alexandra and Brendan Poh of San Diego, Tristan Poh of Jacksonville, Fla. and Charissa McCarron of Phoenix; two great-grandchildren, Danica McCarron of Phoenix and Elijah Poh of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.
