Marcella Mae Tipton, 68 of Sophia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2011, at her home following a long illness.

Born January 25, 1943 at Fireco, she was the daughter of the late Olive Arthur Hornsby and Dora Alice Church.

Mrs. Tipton worked as a health care provider in North Carolina for several years while her health permitted her to.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Howard Tipton; two brothers, James Arthur Hornsby and Gill Andrew Hornsby.

Those left to cherish her memory include her Aunt Polly McBride of Fireco, two sister-in-laws, Lois Harmon of Daniels and Shirley McBride of Loveland, Ohio; brother-in-law Marvin Tipton of Hinton; sister-in-law Emogene Hornsby of Lester. She also has 36 nieces and nephews in which she loved them all very much. Also including three great-nephews, Andrew Hornsby and wife Tiffany Hornsby of Beaver, Wayne Harmon of Mt. Airy, N.C. She also left behind three great-great-nieces, Alexander Keri Boling, Freya Rose Senopole and Ayssa Dawn Hornsby, and one great-great nephew Jonathen Andrew Boling.

She also left behind many special friends including Martha "Joe" Milsap from Sophia, Betty King of Sophia, Jerry and Missy Pavlik of Sophia.

She will be greatly missed and the world will be a lesser place without her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Prosperity First Baptist Church.
