Lucille Bennett Gary (Black Oak) Lucille Bennett, age 85, of Gary (Black Oak), IN, born July 29, 1918, in Centertown, KY. passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2003. A loving mother, she is survived by seven children: Betty (Earl) Bliss of Demotte, IN, Sharon Sue (Larry) Hardesty of DeMotte, Rev. Roy (Romona) Bennett of Portland, IN, Teresa (John) Freyek of Highland, John (Joyce) Bennett of Hammond, Cathy (John) Denham of Merrillville, and Debbie (Gary) Raketich of Schererville; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Conrad "Happy" Bennett, her son, Gary Bennett, her daughter, Brenda Light and her grandchildren, Crystal Bliss, Kevin Light and Michael Hardesty. Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29th,10 am at the Kuiper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delvin Hurt and Rev. Buford Wireman officiating. Burial, Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville. Friends may meet with the family Friday 2 to 8 p.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (2 blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland. Mrs. Bennett was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Black Oak and was active in the Women's Ministry. She presided over her family with kindness, humor and love.
