Graduated Ponca High School and worked at the Conoco Refinery before joining the Army Air Corp in 1941 before Pearl Harbor and served until the end of the war.
Members of the Church of Christ, John followed his faith and in 1949 he and his wife Bessie and their growing family left the USA for South Africa where they were missionaries for the next thirty years.

Returning to the States they made their home in Abilene, Texas where he continued to work for the church. In 1981 while he and Bessie were visiting with Bessie's step-mother in Willmar, Minnesota, he died of a heart attack.

His wishes were to be buried in Ponca City near his parents. George and Eva lie in rest not far from their son.

These few words do not begin to describe the life and deeds of this man and cannot tell of the lives that were influenced by his time here on earth.
