ROCK ISLAND - Lennart G. Carlson, Rock Island, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island.

Mr. Carlson was born May 5, 1912, in Galesburg, Ill., the son of Wilhelm and Amanda (Nilsson) Carlson. He married Jean Clayton on Oct. 11, 1958, in Rock Island. He had worked in the planning department of the former International Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island, for 35 years. He retired as a process engineer in 1975. Len was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, Trinity Lodge 208 A.F. & A.M., Davenport, Davenport Consistory, KAABA Shrine, Davenport, and the Moline Vikings Thor Lodge. He was a past official of the Duck Creek Retirees Golf League and had been on the golf committee of the Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club for 20 years. Len was an avid golfer and played in many other leagues and tournaments. Memorials may be made to Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, or Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children. Survivors include his wife, Jean; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger L. and Wendy Carlson, Aledo, Ill.; grandchildren, Justin Carlson, Kiowa, Colo., and Evan and Amanda Carlson, both of Aledo; his stepmother, Grace B. Carlson, Margate, Fla.; sisters, Virginia Spencer, Davenport, and Barbara Hansen, Bloomington, Minn.; and brothers, Victor Carlson, Davenport, and Allan Carlson, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
