Rites Saturday Scheduled for Dave Smith, 76
David Crockett (Dave) Smith, 76, native of Ellis County, died at 11:55 p.m. Thursday at his home in Lancaster. Most of his life was spent in the Mountain Peak and Midlothian area.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saxon-Boze-Mitchell Funeral Chapel. The Rev. J. P. Rice, Rhome pastor, and the Rev. Billy Baine, Lancaster minister, will officiate, with burial in Mountain Peak Cemetery.

Born Sept 5, 1872, in Mountain Peak community, he was the son of Jim and Nan Smith, pioneers of that area. Dave Smith moved away from there 11 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dave Smith, Lancaster; three children, Jack Smith, Rhome; Mesdames Burton Goodwin and Louis B. Eskridge, Midlothian; three grandchildren, David L. Smith and Mrs. Jackie Smith, Boyd, and Mrs. Phillip Baxter, Jr., Midlothian; one great-grandchild, Sharon Ann Smith, Boyd, and two step-children, Mrs. Elizabeth Riggs, Alexandria, La., and Leonard Hatter, Dallas.
