Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Charlotte Coyle officiating. Private graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Hutchings will lie in state at the funeral home for those wishing to pay respects.
Dorothy, the daughter of Elmer Brice & Emma Pearl McFadden Bowman, was born in Lamar County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and four sisters.
She worked as head of the jewelry department at Perkins Brothers before beginning work at Westinghouse where she worked 10 years before retirement. She then owned and operated Dorothy's, a clothing store for women, until 1982.
She loved dancing, and was good enough to be on Dancing With The Stars. She loved clothes and always dressed impeccably. Dorothy was a caring person and was well liked by all her friends.
Survivors include her husband, John L. Hutchings, a son, John R. Hutchings of Paris, two granddaughters, Olivia Hutchings and Leah Hutchings, her longtime dear friend, Dorothy Daugherty along with many nieces & nephews.
