Harold E. Maschino, 87, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

The service honoring Harold's life will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kathy L. Kluis officiating. Military honors will be presented. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery at Pomeroy. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years Almary; his children, Douglas Maschino, Rockwell City; Curtis Maschino, Fort Dodge; Thomas Maschino, Middleton, NJ; Nicholas (Melissa) Maschino, Fort Dodge; and Amy (Mark) Hagerman, Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one brother Donald (Beverly) Maschino, Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.

Harold Eugene Maschino, the son of George B. and Carrie E. (Trupe) Maschino, was born May 2, 1924 in Pomeroy. He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1942. Harold served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1946. On September 11, 1948, Harold was united in marriage to Almary Bischoff at Riverside United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Harold worked for Bell Telephone in Humboldt and then with Georgia Pacific for 37 years where he retired as supervisor of the distribution warehouse.

Harold was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a former member of V.F.W. Post No. 1856. He coached youth sports and enjoyed watching sports.
