He was a framer and a member of Jericho Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Jericho Baptist Church with burial in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. The Rev. Adrain Horne and Rev. Neal Moore will officiate. Waters Funeral Home is in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Macie Hall Rakestraw; one daughter, Mrs. Douglas White of Baldwyn; two sons, Hollis Rakestraw of New Albany and Wayne Rakestraw of Guntown; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Donahue of Baldwyn, Mrs. Earl Roberts and Mrs. W. C. Conway of Blue Springs and Mrs. Junior Graham of New Albany; two brothers, Cleve Rakestraw and M. C. Rakestraw of Blue Springs; five grandchildren.
The body will be at the funeral home until one hour before time for services and will then lie in state at the church.
