Erich Kempka was born in Oberhausen,Germany, the son of a miner and one of 10 children. He became Chauffeur to Adolf Hitler from 1934 until April 1945.
Kempka was Hitler's personal choice for a reliable driver,if he was being driven alone by Kempka.Hitler would sit next to his driver in the front seat.
Kempka held the rank of SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer(Lientenant Colonel) for him to have the rank and pay status awarded by Hitler. Kempka was once engaged to Hitler's private secretary Gerda Christian.
Although Hitler could not drive he often praised Kempka's driving and ability to control the vehicle at speed.
Kempka was with Hitler in the Final days of the Third Reich in the Fuhrerbunker and was later to testify what took place in the final hours of Hitler's death.
Kempka survived the war and died in Frieberg am Neckar,Germany in 1975, aged 64.

Erich Kempka was never interviewed by any Historian his testimony and recollections would have been a valuable gift to History.
