Johann Elbert arrived in America at age 20 on the Bark Johanna on May 16, 1866. He traveled with his father, Peter Anton Elbert, his brother Franz Elbert, his step-mother Margarethe Fischer Elbert, her mother Barbara Fischer, her brother Jacob Fischer, and his half-brother Emmerich Elbert.
