Irene Booth Greene passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior from Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility on Saturday morning, Nov. 29, 2008.
Mrs. Greene was 89 years of age, a daughter of the late Henry and Dixie Fields Booth, born Feb. 11, 1919, in Lawrence County, Ky. She was the wife of Garrett O. Greene, who preceded her in death in April 1998. She worked in the health care industry as a receptionist and was a member of 39th Street Baptist Church.
Left behind is a son, Gary (Sandy) Greene of Ashland; a brother, Calvin Booth of Tennessee; two sisters, Gladys (Duke) Kight of Huntington and Alma (Edcel) Branham of Fairborn, Ohio; two loving grandsons, Andrew (Pat) Greene and David (Susan) Greene; four precious great-grandchildren, Maddy, age 7, Spencer, age 5, Zach, age 7 and Hannah, age 5; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Booth, Noah Booth and Everett Booth; and two sisters, Ruth Lawson and Siss Stratton.
A funeral service for Mrs. Greene will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor David Lynch will offer a message of comfort, with a heartfelt eulogy by Mike Greene and prayer given by Mabel Johnson. Committal to be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
The Greene family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
