Mrs Meada Hartman, 50, wife of Wess Hartman, died at 7:45 pm Monday at her home two miles east and one and one-half miles south of Wakarusa. Complication of diseases caused her death although she had been in poor health for a number of years. For the past seven weeks she had been bedfast.

She was born Nov 29, 1880, the daughter of Samuel and Betty Wise, on the Charles Husband farm, which at that time was the Wise homestead. Her late home was located only one mile north of her birthplace. She became the bride of Mr Hartman in January, 1896.

Mr Hartman and the following children survive: Mrs Floyd Husband of Wakarusa, Mrs Frank Stealy of Elkhart, Blanche and Ellen Hartman at home and Harvey Hartman of Grand Rapids, Mich.

She is also survived by her mother, Mrs Betty Wise; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Leander Miller of Wakarusa; two brothers, Oliver and Christ Wise of Wakarusa; a half-brother, Jeremiah Wise of Nappanee; and a half-sister, Mrs Paul Flager of Goshen.

The funeral will be held Thursday with a short prayer service at 1 pm at the home and further services at the Yellow Creek Mennonite church. The Rev John Frederick will be in charge and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs Hartman was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
