Services for Jackie VaNelle Helm, 83 will be 7pm Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the Broken Arrow Church of Christ located at 505 E. Kenosha. Visitation will be held at the same location from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. Wayne Pope and Scott Keele will officiate the service under the direction of Gary Kelley's Add'vantage Funeral Service, Tulsa. Private interment will be Park Grove Cemetery.
Jackie VaNelle Lee Helm was born February 7, 1928 in Eldorado, OK, the daughter of John Azna and Myrtle Katherine Brooks Lee. She passed away quietly on December 17, 2011 at her home after a long battle with complications from open heart surgery. VaNelle moved to Broken Arrow in 1937 and was a 1946 graduate of Broken Arrow High School. She married Bill Helm of Broken Arrow on July 28, 1946 and they made their home in Broken Arrow for the entire 65 years of their marriage. She worked for the Broken Arrow School district for 19 years as secretary to the high school principal, retiring in 1988. She was a lifelong active member of the Broken Arrow Church of Christ.
VaNelle is survived by her husband, Bill Helm of the home; son Billy Richard Helm and wife Janet of Broken Arrow, OK; son, Danny Lynn Helm and wife Terri of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Kathryn Ann Summers and husband Dennis of Edmond, OK; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Lawson of Searcy, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Odell Lee, Otis Lee, Lynnwood Lee; and sisters, Cecil DelSesto and Mildred Haggard.
