Services for John Davi s Jr. will be held on Wednesday, October 7 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic church with Msgr. Edward Bily and the Rev. Schellenberg officiating. Interment will be in the City cemetery under the direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
Mr. Davis died on Monday, October 5 at 7:05 p.m. in Memorial Hospital. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill chapel.
Mr. Davis was born on September 19, 1924 in Luling to Gladys Kifer and John Weston Davis, Sr. of Gonzales County and Luling respectively.
He was married to Juanita Marie Peterek on June 9, 1943 in Seguin, and the couple lived at 1231 St. Joseph Street. He had, for many years, owned and operated the John Davis Market, moving from the downtown area out to the bypass in recent years. He was a member of the St. James Catholic church.
Surviving him are his wife and his mother of Luling, three sons, John W. Davis III; Michael Lane Davis of Austin; and Patrick Davis; two grandchildren, John W. Davis IV, and Mindy Gene Davis; one sister, Mrs. Geraldine Seay; and one brother, Roswell Davis, both of Luling, many nieces and nephews.
