Roy Moritz was born on Nov. 23, 1927, to Bob and Vera Moritz in Fredericksburg, Texas. On Dec. 28, 2012, Roy went to his eternal reward. Rosary will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Franklin Bartley Funeral Home. Mass for the Resurrection will be Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Christ the King Cathedral. Interment will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Roy graduated form St. Mary's High School in Fredericksburg and joined the Navy in 1946. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and married his high school sweetheart, Alice Rosenback, in 1948. His job required him to move often through Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana for six years. By now there were three little Moritzs, and an assignment in San Antonio kept him stationary for 10 years. Roy's next assignment brought them home to Lubbock in 1964 to eradicate the boll weevils on the High Plains. Lubbock was to be the final assignment and resting place for this uniquely special man. Roy was the handy man of the neighborhood, and he was the grounds supervisor at CTK for 40 years. The grounds were appropriately awarded a certificate for a beautiful campus. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Phiefster; and his only son, Jeff. He is survived by his wife of 64 years; daughter, Debby Kammerer and spouse Geoff; daughter, Lynn Sharp and spouse Leonard; brothers, Myron, Roger and Ned; and sister, Carletta Bernhard.
