Elizabeth "Betty" M. Freed, 73, of South Roosevelt Ave., Mishawaka, IN., passed away on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 12, in St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, IN. Elizabeth was born to the union of Chester and Mary Clemans on Aug. 1, 1926, in Mishawaka. She was employed at Uniroyal, where she worked for 21 years. She was a member of the U.R.W. Local #65 and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 161.
On March 10, 1972, in South Bend, she married George Freed. She is survived by her husband George; two daughters, Pauline McCullough and Janet Farkas, both of South Bend; two sons, James K. Bennet of South Bend and Patrick Bennet of Lakeville, IN.; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Sue Firth of Crystal Beach, Texas, and Cyntha A. Buysee of Gunther, Texas; stepson, Randall Freed of Mishawaka. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; a half sister, Mary Ellen Morgan of Heber Springs, Ark' two stepsisters, Alma Carroll of LaPorte, IN. and Mary Ellen Ames of North Liberty.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, in the funeral home, with Rev. Ron Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
