A celebration of life for Mrs. Ione Cone Dawson, 97, of Port Orange, who went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2011, will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach with the Reverend Daniel Webster as the celebrant. The family will be receiving friends for two hours prior to the service. The interment will be at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach immediately following the service.
Ione was born on October 22, 1914 in Pelham, Georgia to the late Robert Clifton and Anna Catherine (nee' Byard) Cone. In her earlier years, she was a seamstress and a homemaker. She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, FL.
Besides her parents, Ione was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Leland Virgil Dawson.
Ione leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two loving sons, Lee Roy (Sandy) Dawson and John Lindsey (June) Dawson, Sr., both of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren, Lee Roy Fagan, John Lindsey Dawson, Jr., Michael James Dawson, Sheila Hall and Laural Kristeen Dawson; great grandchildren, Taylor Jade Dawson, T.J. Hall and Willie Hall; niece, Elaine Ricketson Pridgeon and family.
