Edward Dobbin Morris was born Nov 23, 1840 in Franklin Co., TN, the 8th of 11 children born to John Morris and Sarah Elizabeth Frame. John and Sarah had 7 daughters and 4 sons. Edward married Martha Elizabeth Henderson Feb 14, 1876 in Georgetown, Williamson Co., TX. Together they had 5 children - 3 daughters and 1 son and a child that I don't know the sex of. Edward died Mar 29, 1907 in Williamson Co., TX

Edward's father died in 1849, so in 1850 he is in Franklin Co., TN with his mother and 8 of his siblings; he is 9 years old and has attended school. In 1860 he is in Florence, Williamson Co., TX with his mother and 7 of his siblings; he is 19 and a common laborer. In 1870 Edward is again in Florence, Williamson Co., TX with his older brother, James Logan as the head of the household. He is living with his mother and 6 of his siblings; he is 28 and a farm laborer. By 1880 Edward has married, so he is in Burnet Co., TX with his wife and 3 of their children. His mother and sisters Frances and Mary Jane are living with him. He is 38 and a farmer. In 1900 Edward is in Williamson Co., TX with his wife and their 3 daughters. Their son has died sometime between 1880 - 1900. Edward is 59, has been married 24 years, is a farmer, can read, write and speak English and owns his farm free.

Edward enlisted in the Civil War on Aug 18, 1861 at Georgetown, Williamson Co., TX as a Private in Williamson Bowies, Co. H, 12th TX Cavalry. He served until Dec 31, 1863, when no further record can be found. Edward was 20 years old. He was paid $72.20 for the use of his horse, clothing and guns that he owned. His wife applied for a widow's pension Jan 10, 1910 and was approved Feb 28, 1910; the last pension she received was for $37.00.
