Boy Dies In Mishap
A 14-year-old boy was crushed to death under a tractor while working at the family farm eight miles east of West Frankfort Saturday. Arvil Dale Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Harris, was discing a field. He was driving up an incline when the tractor overturned on him. His mother and a neighbor arrived shortly after the accident at 11 a. m. He was dead when they arrived. Franklin County Coroner Eugene Dorris will conduct an inquest at 7 p.m. Friday at the West Frankfort city hall. Harris was born Aug. 26, 1946, m Herrin. He leaves his parents; brother, Gary, at home; half-brother Russell Lemmon and half-sister, Linda Lemmon, both at home; paternal grandfather, Henry Harris of Thompsonville; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Ablett of east of Thompsonville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompsonville First Baptist Church, with the Rev. John West officiating. Burial will be in East Fork Cemetery. Friends may call at the family home eight miles east of West Frankfort on Rt. 149. Union Funeral Home of West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements.
