He was a veteran of the US Army during Korea.
Mayberry served as program director for KSTB radio station for 20 years. He was on the City Commission from 1978-1980 and was Mayor of Breckenridge from 1980-1982. He was a constant fund raiser for families in need. He was a member of the Breckenridge Lions Club.
He married Geraldine Wimberley on 28 February 1972.
Mayberry was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survived by his wife; two daughters - Judy Thurman and Misty Harvick, both of Breckenridge; two sons - Sam Mayberry of Breckenridge and Aubrey Fred Mayberry of San Angelo; one brother - Bob Mayberry of Nashville, TN; seven grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers. Paul Page Mayberry 1927-1997 and Harold L. Mayberry 1925 - 1996, both of Nashville Tennessee.
