James Christian Rites on Saturday

James E. Christian died at his home Friday at 4:50 a.m. following a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted from the Episcopal Church of the Messiah at 10 a.m. Saturday with interment to take place in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
Mr. Christian was born January 31, 1884, and was a life long resident of Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Pauline Roberts Christian; three sisters, Almeda Roberts, Minerva Christian snd Ida Arizona Christian; and two brothers, George Villis Christian and Robert Lee Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel, Iris Christian; two sons, Henry and Maness Christian, both Gonzales; three daughters, Mrs. George Smith, Luling, Mrs. Irving Wruck and Mrs. Marjorie C. Moore, both of San Antonio; one brother, Tom Christian, six grandchildren, and one great grandchildren.

Funeral services for James (Jim E. Christian) were held from the Episcopal church of the Messiah at 10 a.m. on May 22, 1954. The Rev. Charles Brown, rector, conducted the last rites with interment following in the Odd Fellow's cemetery. Clarence Hasdorf was the orgaist.
Mr. Christian was born in Gonzales on January 31, 1884, to Albert and Pauline Roberts Christian, both deceased. On December 19, 1906, he and Miss Ethel Iris Bertling were married in Gonzales and the couple continued to make their home in this area where he was a prominent farmer of the county. In his later years he operated a store on St. Joseph street until about 12 years ago when ill health forced his retirement to his home on Wallace street where his death occurred. He was a member of the Episcopal church of the Messiah.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Henry Christian and Maness Christian, both of Gonzales; three daughters, Mrs. George Smith, Luling; Mrs. Irving E. Wruck of San Antonio; Mrs. Marjorie C. Moore also of San Antonio; one brother, T. E. Christian, Gonzales; six grandchildren, David Christian; Mrs. James Powell, Iris Anna Christian, Maness Edward Christian, James William (Bill) Christian, and Cindy Lou Moore. One great grandchild, George James (Jim) Powell, also survives.
Pallbearers were Roy Halamicek, Earl Bouldin, Roy Staton, W. O. (Billy) Wood, George McVea and Joe Mikesh.
