Chrysanthi Vesoulis, age 77, of Toledo and formerly of Cincinnati, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 13, 1933 in Nestorion, Kastoria, Greece to the late Nicholas and Athena (Kalogianis) Liontos. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Loucas Z. Vesoulis, and a brother, Vasilios "Bill" Liontos.
Chrysanthi came to the United States in 1958 from a war-torn Greece and worked in the restaurant business alongside her husband for a number of years. She was a devoted wife and homemaker whose passion was caring for her family, particularly her grandchildren in her later years. A member of Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Cincinnati, she was a gifted gardener and cook and also loved to sing. Chrysanthi will be remembered for her sincere kindness and compassion as well as for the wonderful stories of the "old country" she loved to share with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Zissis (Nancy) Vesoulis, MD, Nicholas (Jane) Vesoulis and Paul (Mindy) Vesoulis, DDS; eight grandchildren, Zachary (Meredith), MD, Katherine, Loucas Michael, Chloe C., Abigail, Anne, Madalyn and Megan; great granddaughter, Autumn Clare; brother, John (Nikki) Liontos; and sister, Effe (Tom) Papouras.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Rd.), Toledo, where Trisagion prayers will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45224. There will be additional visitation Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services in the church. Interment will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati.
