Obituary, The Ottawa Journal, 10 November 1947

"Mrs. A. J. Christie Dies in Ottawa After Brief Illness

"One of the last of a prominent Ottawa family, Mrs. Alexander James Christie, died this morning at her residence, 421 Laurier avenue east, after a brief illness.
The daughter of the late Sir Henry Bate, Mrs. Christie had lived in Ottawa all of her 92 years, except during the time she attended Miss Lay's school in Montreal.
Full of the zest of life, Mrs. Christie for more than 40 years spent the Winter months in California. She was interested in horse-racing, bridge, and was a member of the Royal Ottawa Golf Club and the Country Club. She was a parishioner of All Saints' Church.
She is survived by a son, A. H. (Harru) Christie, of Ottawa; two daughters, Mrs. C. M. Thomson, of Quebec, and Mrs. H. J. Symington, of Montreal. Her two sisters are Mrs. Lansing Lewis, of Montreal, and Mrs. B. P. Dewar, of Ottawa. Mr. L. N. Bate, of Ottawa, is a brother. There are six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be private."
