Dr. J. H. McCaleb, who went to San Antonio Sunday, was operated on Monday in Santa Rosa Hospital and a telephone message received Monday afternoon stated that his condition was critical. He was suffering from appendicitis. Mrs. McCaleb is with him, and his daughter, Miss Janie, left this afternoon for San Antonio, accompanied by their aunt, Mrs. G. W. McCaleb.

Sad News
A phone message from San Antonio after noon today brought the sad news that Dr. J. H. McCaleb's condition was hopeless. He had been unconscious since Tuesday. Dr. J. A. Naness, his partner in business, and Rev. H. M. Crain, his pastor, left this afternoon for San Antonio.

All Gonzales was saddened Wednesday when news came over the wires from San Antonio that Dr. J. H. McCaleb was no more.
He breathed his last at 4:30 o'clock in the Santa Rosa Hospital, and his body was brought to this city this afternoon and carried to his late home on St. Frances street. Services will be held there at 4 o'clock and the procession will then form and proceed to the Masonic cemetery, where the interment takes place under the auspices of Masonic Lodge No. 30, A.F. & A.M.
The deceased was one of the leading physicians of this city, a man worthy of the confidence ans esteem of one and all, and his death has brought sorrow to the homes of many.
