Stephen Clayton, aged 79 years, died of kidney trouble last Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Reuben Piersall, on the Preston Pike. Funeral Saturday with burial in Goodpaster burying ground by the G.A.R. His wife, a daughter of Abraham Goodpaster died 11 years ago. Five daughers and one son were born to them, only ones surviving were; Mrs. Sarah Wilson of Owingsville and Mrs. Reuben Piersall. Ran the A.W. Bascom Mill for many years, was a farmer and resided on the O. & Mt. S. Pike until recent years. Solider in CO. D. 14th KY. Calvary during the CIVIL WAR. Member of Thomas Clark Post, G.A.R. and was a Federal Pensioner.
