Frances was my g.gr.mother thru her daughter Martha Viola Mays Hill. Frances was born in Giles Co. TN, her parents moved them all to Alabama prob. 1876 for her younger sister Katie was born in AL and before 1880 they're all in Faulkner Co. AR.
Frances married John L. Mays on Dec. 15, 1891 in Faulkner Co. AR and in 1900 they're in Perry Co. AR. Her husband John Mays dies either late 1901 or early 1902 before Frances delivers identical twin girls on Feb. 22, 1902. These twins were my paternal gr.mother Martha and her sister Mary, that made them a total of 5 daughters born. Frances moves herself and daughters along with her Armstrong family to the Shelby Co. and Tipton Co. area where her Dad Matthew marries her Mother's younger sister. Frances married a J.A. Martin on Mar. 13, 1912 and by 1920 her Martin husband has died and Frances and daughter Mary are living with her father Matthew and his 3rd wife on the 1920 Shelby Co. TN census...Frances marries Peter Holliman on Aug. 31, 1935 and he outlives her, he dies in 1954.
I was told by her brother Ira Armstrong's youngest son James Armstrong that Frances is buried in this cemetery but has no marker for her grave. He gave me a location where he thought she was buried and he also said he remembered her and she was such a sweet and kind lady all her life.
I have a picture of Frances from my Hill gr.parents photo album that I believe was made about 1917 and the husband in the photo has to have been J.A. Martin. I have another photo of Frances older with my Dad and his youngest sister Elsie probably made a year or two before Frances died...
God Bless you gr.ma Frances, you are also one of those people that I'm sure will be granted Eternal Life thru our Lord Jesus, love to you, your g.gr.daughter, Kay.
