Ira was my great grand Uncle, he was born in Faulkner Co. AR where his parents Matthew and Lenora Bolin Armstrong migrated in the late 1870s from Giles Co. Tennessee. Ira's mother died in Faulkner Co. AR in 1888 and his father Matthew married again so Ira was mostly raised by his stepmother Elizabeth Fielder Armstrong. Elizabeth died after 1900 so his father Matthew moved them all from Faulkner Co. AR to Shelby Co. TN. Ira's father Matthew married Ira's mother's younger sister Margaret Bolin Jackson Armstrong in Jan. 1910 in Tipton Co. TN.
Ira was a younger brother to my g.gr.mother Frances Armstrong Mays, she too is buried in this same cemetery. Ira's wife is buried alongside him and some of their children are buried in this cemetery. Ira's father Matthew K. Armstrong is buried in this cemetery and his mother Lenora Bolin Armstrong is buried in Arkansas.
Ira married Virlie I. Gookin on Nov. 11, 1911 in Tipton Co. and they had children Chester, Lenora, Eugene, Robert, James, Dallas, Ruth and Thelma and they are all deceased too...
God Bless you Ira, I was told you were a very good family man, Kay.
