Helen McLaughlin, 89, a former Staten Islander and retired dividend clerk, died Saturday at Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey.

Born Helen Lane in Stapleton, she spent much of her life there, later living in Tompkinsville and New Dorp before moving to Toms River in 2007.

Mrs. McLaughlin was a graduate of Curtis High School. She worked as a dividend clerk for Citibank for eighteen years, retiring in 1980.

She enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City, and was devoted to her large family.

"She was a family woman, very involved with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the great-great-grandchildren," said her daughter, Patricia Krause.

Mrs. McLaughlin was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, West Brighton.

Her husband of fifty years, Thomas, died in 1984.

In addition to her daughter, Patricia, surviving are two sons, Thomas and George; a brother, Richard Lane; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Friday from the Matthew Funeral Home, Willowbook, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church.
Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
