Arlene Poole (1937 - 2011)

WHITNEY, Idaho - Georgia Arlene Poole, 74, passed away Dec. 7, 2011, in Preston, Idaho. She was born March 31, 1937, in Preston, Idaho, to William Wright and Georgia Hyde Poole. A twin brother, George Arlend Poole, preceded her in birth by a few minutes.

She attended grades one through eight at Whitney Elementary School and graduated from Preston High School in 1955. She attended Brigham Young University. Arlene earned a degree as a dental assistant in San Francisco, Calif. Upon graduation, she worked for Dr. Quill Allen, DDS, in Logan, Utah, for 28 years. When Dr. Allen retired, she decided to pursue different employment opportunities. Some jobs she found interesting were being a nanny to a family in Staten Island, N.Y., and then for a family in Park City, Utah. She loved the children she cared for. She also worked as a hostess at the Bridgerland Restaurant in Logan.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served primarily as a teacher in Primary, Sunday School or Mutual. She gave 100 percent to each calling. She liked to read and enjoyed studying church books and the scriptures.

She is survived by her siblings, Maxine (Richard) Knight of Bountiful, Utah, Arlend (Cleo) Poole of Whitney, William D. (Maxine) Poole of Woods Cross, Utah, Virginia Flippence of Preston, Idaho, Douglas (Debbie) Poole of West Valley City, Utah, and Richard (Debbie) Poole of Whitney; and by many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Larry Flippence.

Arlene was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991. She has spent the last nine years in the Franklin County Transitional Care Center. Her family expresses their gratitude to Dr. David Beckstead and the staff at the care center for their love, compassionate service and tender care given to Arlene.
