SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Mrs. Mildred Gasque Simmons, 80, widow of Will Marion Simmons, died Thursday, May 6, 2004.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at Little Zion Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Gasque officiating.

Mrs. Simmons was born July 15, 1923, in the Zion section of Marion County, a daughter of the late Cordie Allison Gasque and the late Jennie Belle Price Gasque.

Mrs. Simmons was a retired secretary. She was a member of the Eastern Star and St. Bernadette's Church.

Surviving Mrs. Simmons are a son, Stephen A. Simmons of Fairfax, Va.; a daughter, Susan F. Simmons of Hickory, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Karen Simmons; a son-in-law, James Bombenger; a granddaughter, Kassee Chron; a grandson, Stephen A. Simmons Jr.; a great-grandson, William Chron; two brothers, retired Family Court Judge S. Norwood Gasque of Latta and C. Aubrey Gasque of Springfield, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
