CHARLESTON — Mr. C. Aubrey Gasque, 85, of Charleston, died July 30, 2006, in Orangeburg Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 21, 1920, a son of the late Cord and Jennie B. Gasque of Marion. A graduate of the University of South Carolina in economics, he later attended the Washington College of Law and graduated with a degree in law. As a Captain in the U.S. Army during WWII, Mr. Gasque served in Iran and Egypt, directing strategic economic studies. As an attorney-at-law working for the government in Washington, D.C., Mr. Gasque was a General Counsel to the United States Senate and then later confirmed by the Senate to be the Assistant Director of the United States Federal Judiciary, a grade GS-18, the highest in federal service.
Mr. Gasque was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lou Gasque in 2005, and by his son, Arthur Allison Gasque in 1970.
He is survived by his brother, S. Norwood Gasque of Latta; four sons, Mark Gasque of Charlotte, NC, Stephen Gasque of Bethesda, MD, Cord Gasque of Wellington, FL, and Stephan Ouverson of Murrells Inlet; four daughters, Christine Duck of Marion, Nancy Cathcart of Mount Pleasant, Laura Norman of Alexandria, VA, and Allison Duck of Las Vegas, NV; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Richardson Funeral Home in Marion to be followed by a service at Little Zion Cemetery Church in Zion.
