J.D. Harris, 78, of Texarkana, Ark., died Saturday, March 14, 1992, of natural causes in a local hospital. Mr. Harris was born Nov. 14,1913, in Miller County, Ark. He was a farmer and rancher, a Baptist, one of the founders of the Four States Fair, the last member of the original Four States Fair Board, and grand marshal of Miller County Fair Parade Sept. 10, 1985. He served as commissioner of Miller Levee Board District No. 2 in 1986, was a founder of the Miller-Bowie County Farmers Association a member of the Board of Red River Production Credit Association. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Lathrop Harris of Texarkana; one brother, James O. Harris of Texarkana; three sisters, Edna Higginbotham, Mittie Lou Brock and Maudie Chapman of Texarkana; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be 4 p.m. today at East Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rondo Cemetery. The family will be atthe Harris home, 5100 E. Ninth, U.S. Highway 82 east.
