He is survived by his three children, Jason M. Hilliard, of Winlock, Angela L. Hilliard of Glendale Calif., and Jon M. Hilliard of Columbia S.C., his grandson, his two brothers, Jim Hilliard of Ryderwood and Richard Hilliard of Ellensburg, his sister, Darlene Ryan of Tacoma, his ex-wife, Eleanor Lane of Onalaska, and many close friends.
Born in Ryderwood on Nov. 15, 1941 to Gladys and Murl Hilliard, he was a lifelong resident of Winlock. Mike graduated from Winlock High School and enlisted in the Army in 1964. After completing his service in the Army he began working in the logging and timber industry for several different companies until his retirement. Mike was well known for his drag racing days and built his first dragster with Dwight Obermire of Napavine (deceased) when they were in their early 20's. He was known to frequent drag races and classic car shows as often as possible and never lost his passion for the quarter mile.
A celebration of his life was held Jan. 7 at the Olequea Senior Center in Winlock. Arrangements are by Cattermole Funeral Home.
