Richard Pemberton was the son of Isaiah Pemberton I and Elizabeth Hall and the husband of Lydia Pugh. Richard's will was written 18 Feb 1805, and it was proven 4 Mar 1805. so he died between those two dates. From his will, Newberry Co, SC, Estate Record Book E, p. 142:
"I Richard Pemberton of the State of South Carolina Neubery Defrict (sic), Being this time weak in body but of perfect mind and memory and Sound Reason have thought fit to make ordain and Constitute and do her by make order and Constitute this my last will and testament...I Leave unto My Beloved wife Lyda pemberton all my Estate Both Real and personal During her natural Life m 31 y It is my will that after the Decease of my wife that the plantation that I now Live on Be Equaly Devided (sic) between my two sons Namely Isiah and William Pemberton the half up the Creek Son Isiah an the half for William allso my oldest Son Isiah pemberton is to have a yong Mare and Saddle and a rifle Gun Like wis I give to my Son william pemberton a horse and Saddle and a rifle gun also...the Remainder and Residue of my Estate Be Equally Devided amongst my four Daughters Namely Rachel Elzabeth Sara and ann pemberton...I set my hand and Seal this Eighteenth Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and five..."
