March 21, 1925 – December 8, 2011

James V. Stump, 86 of Monroe died at 3:00 a.m. Thursday at his home. He had been in poor health for four years.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Rick Massingill, pastor of the North Monroe Street Church of God Mountain Assembly, will officiate. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.

Born March 21, 1925 in Monroe he was the son of James E. and Bernice V. (Freeland) Stump. He married Agnes M. Hayter on March 27, 1943 in Monroe. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2008.

James was employed by River Raisin Paper Company (Union Camp) as a machine tender retiring in 1990.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Surviving are his children James K. (Sue) Stump, Sr. and Violet J. (Harley) Ellison both of Monroe; brother, Calvin (Marty) Stump, sisters, Elsie (Bill) Baltrip, Betty (Stormy) Weatherholt and Deloris Fox all of Monroe; ten grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his son Roy Stump Sr., granddaughter Amanda Brown, sisters, Patricia Collins and Zalberta Daniels; brothers, Daryl, John, Thayer, Roy and Troy Stump.
