Although his gravestone clearly reads 1885-1971, and his Social Security record shows he was born 2 May 1885 and died 15 Apr 1971 (possibly where the information on his gravestone came from), I believe it is incorrect. All the U.S. Censuses, 1900 to 1950, reflect a date of birth for him of about 1886 or 1887, and both his WWI and WWII Draft Registration Cards show him born on 2 May 1886, not 1885. Also, his sister, Johnnie F. (Bonds) Omey, was born on 18 Sep 1885, making it impossible that he was born on 2 May 1885.
