FROM A 1919 NEWSPAPER ARTICLE:
Eldee Hunt, a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Darlington, suffered the loss of his left hand on Wednesday morning, while cutting silage on his brother-in-law's farm near Worden, Michigan. The hand was so badly mangled that it was amputated above the wrist. Mr. and Mrs. Darlington returned from Worden Thursday noon and say that the patient is doing as well as possible now although it was thought at first that he would not survive the shock and loss of blood. This accident exemplifies the old saying about misfortunes that never come singly for it is only a few weeks ago that Mr. Hunt lost his wife to whom he was married last June.
On June 21, 1924, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Elsee married second to Georgia Irene (Halsal) Green, a daughter of George Halsal and Maria Mina Ponton. Eldee was age 34, Georgia 19. Their 26-year marriage produced five children, all daughters: Betty Jean, Doris Mae, Leota Marguerite, Bertha Louise, and Jewell Irene.
Eldee died at age 60 of multiple cerebral thrombosis (blood clots in the brain) caused by a bleeding duodenal ulcer. The Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Ann Arbor, handled the funeral arrangements.
