"The LaFayette Sun" - February 13, 1929:

J. N. Alsobrook Died Monday Night.

J. N. Alsobrook, well-known and prominent planter of the Five Points community, died at his home Monday night at 11:30 o'clock after a brief illness which was described by physicians as a heart attack. Death came suddenly as he was sitting in a chair before an open fire.
The deceased was in his 81st year and except for his recent illness had enjoyed remarkably good health. He was a member and a vital factor in the Methodist church of Five Points. He was probably one of the best known planters of Chambers County, having many years ago taken over the new and improved methods of farming, which had proven successful. It was five years ago that he with his wife, Mrs. Alice Fuller Alsobrook, had celebrated their golden wedding.
Funeral arrangements were announced for today. The funeral service was held from the Five Points Methodist Church at 2 p.m. today, with Rev. Matthewson, pastor of the church, and Rev. L. D. Adkins, a former pastor, but who is now pastor of an Alexander City church, the officiating ministers. Interment was in the Five Points Cemetery.
Surviving the deceased are a widow, Mrs. Alice Fuller Alsobrook; nine children, Lewis Alsobrook, LaGrange, Ga.; Walter, Quint and Kyle Alsobrook, of Plant City, Fla.; O. D. Alsobrook, of Cusseta; A. F. Alsobrook, Five Points; Erick Alsobrook, of Guntersville; Mrs. Edna Jones, Roanoke; Mrs. Walter Thomas, Birmingham. A tenth child, Mrs. F. W. Smartt, of Five Points, preceded him in death by four years. A number of grandchildren and other relatives and friends also survive.
