Mrs. Sarah Jane Bassett, nee Alsobrook, was born in Talbot County, Ga., in 1844, and died June 2, 1912. She was the daughter of Lewis and Alcie Alsobrook. She was twice married – 1881 to Henry L. Fuller. After 20 years of uninterrupted happiness this union was severed by the death of her companion. In 1908 she was married to R. L. Bassett. They lived in peace and happiness for only a few years, when she was stricken with paralysis while at church, and she never recovered. She was a fine type of Christian womanhood, and had those essential elements of a great character. She was converted in early childhood and united with the Methodist Church, and was always true to the principles of the Christian religion. She was a devoted and faithful wife and helpmeet. In her long and painful afflictions, being utterly helpless, she was never despondent or impatient, but always cheerful and resigned, never murmuring or complaining.
The end was peace. She committed all to Christ, knowing that he is able to keep that which she committed unto him against that day. We laid her body to rest in the hope of a gracious resurrection. We will meet her again some happy day.
